Gardivalia news March 29th 2020

Dear Ralph

With the rapidly changing nature of COVID-19 and how it is affecting our world, I am writing to let you know that the Gardivalia Committee has decided to postpone the decision to hold Gardivalia 2020 at this stage. We understand our first priority is the health and safety of all involved as well as to the broader community.

We would rather be preventative and support the health and well being of everyone and not end up in a position where we have to cancel at the last minute. We will continue to review our options during the year as we see how things evolve. For example we could choose to go ahead with a smaller version of the Open Garden Festival & / or open in a different month or wait till Oct/Nov 2021.

Gardivalia was a great success last year despite the poor weather conditions. We have a great group of gardeners who are happy to consider opening their gardens at another time. In the months to come we wish you all good health. With all the self isolating, with gardeners relaxing and busily gardening there will be many beautiful gardens to see when the gardens are once again open to the public. I look forward to that.

In the meantime, one of the things we all have in common is a love of gardening. Do keep in touch, I would love to hear about your gardening pursuits. We will let you know what is happening. Information will also be available on the Gardivalia webpage as well as on our Facebook and Instagram pages.

Keep well & happy gardening.

Kind Regards

Maree Wilson
